Think about using top sheets too; particularly in summer, when duvets can be too warm. These sheets need to be comfortable so that your children can get as much sleep as possible.

• Changes - you'll want to change your children's bedding regularly, so make sure you have enough spare bedding, eg, sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers. If you are buying a themed children's bedding set, buy two, so that your children always have their favourite bedding.

• Accessories - using a quilt, throw, or fleece blanket on top of the regular bedding can help to keep your children warm during the winter, and can be arranged on the bed during the day to give the bed an extra design feature. When you're choosing your children's bedding, don't forget to think about the extras you might need to complete the theme your children want.
