The quality of cotton depends on the length of the fibres, known as staples. The longer the staple - the better the cotton. Before spinning, the cotton is combed to remove dirt and particles trapped in the fibres. After the combing process only the longest staples are left ready for spinning and weaving, these make the strongest and finest fabric. The result is a cotton fabric which is softer and more luxurious than any other.
